Correction and Retraction
The Al'Ulum Jurnal Pendidikan Islam is fully committed to maintaining the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record for all published content. Any changes to articles after publication are made only under specific and justified circumstances, following best practices within the international academic publishing community.
1. Erratum (Author Correction)
An Erratum is a formal statement issued by the author(s) to acknowledge and correct minor errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in a published article. Such corrections may involve typographical mistakes, data inconsistencies, or minor factual errors that do not compromise the scientific integrity of the paper. If the correction affects the conclusions, this must be explicitly stated. The original article will not be removed from the ISLIMUS website but will be accompanied by an Erratum notice that links directly to the corrected version. All Errata are freely accessible to the public to ensure transparency.
2. Retraction (Withdrawal of an Article)
A Retraction is published when there is clear evidence that the findings of an article are unreliable, whether due to research misconduct, serious methodological errors, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices. Retracted articles are not deleted from the journal’s archive but are clearly marked as “Retracted” and accompanied by a formal statement explaining the reason and the party responsible for the decision. Retractions may be initiated by the authors when substantial scientific errors are identified, or by the editors or publisher when deemed appropriate. In cases involving legal or ethical violations, the publisher may remove or redact the article; however, bibliographic metadata will be preserved to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
3. Publisher’s Note (Editorial or Production Correction)
A Publisher’s Note is issued when typographical or production errors originating from the publisher affect the integrity of article metadata, such as the title, author list, or institutional affiliations, or when such errors significantly impact readers’ comprehension. In these cases, the original article is replaced with a corrected version, with the date of correction clearly indicated. Publisher’s Notes are openly available to all readers. Minor corrections that do not alter the scientific meaning or reader understanding may be implemented at the publisher’s discretion without formal notice.
In all cases, Al'Ulum ensures that the correction or retraction date is explicitly recorded. Articles published for more than one year may not be replaced but will instead have their corrections documented through a Publisher’s Note to maintain transparency and accountability in scholarly communication.
